10 biggest twitter myths
- Everyone who follows you reads your tweets (only happens when you are famous, and probably not even then)
- Famous people are on twitter using their own names (nope, most have aliases, because their own names were taken ages ago by fans, or people who love to spam, or people who are both)
- Twitter will make you rich easily (hah! Replace the word twitter with blogging, second life, or any other fad on the net andyou know what the truth is: earning money online = work)
- People like to see retweets of links to posts on your blog, or your own tweets you find hilarious (gee, 200 people unfollowed me, where is the love?)
- On twitter you can be a real personality (if you don't have one, you ain't gettin' one either)
- If you say something smart, people will retweet you (of the two people that actually read your tweets, one will retweet you, if he or she has a really good day)
- Auto DM your followers every once in a while about your services (one of the fastest ways of getting yourself reported to @spam)
- Get 1000 followers now, free! (and watch your ass getting blocked right out of twitterville, probably right after your account gets purdified with ads)
- Posting all the popular topics gets you a lot of followers (or a nice new twitter username: suspended)
- It is better to twitter than to blog, because tweeting doesn't cost as much time (procrastinators always look for excuses to waste time)
all in good fun :)
